Daksha

Dakṣa is foremost among the Prajāpatis and a mind-born son of Brahmā, from whose many daughters arose the gods, daityas, serpents, birds and all classes of living beings — Aditi and Diti are among his daughters. His most celebrated story concerns Satī: out of contempt for Śiva he did not invite him to his sacrifice, whereupon Satī gave up her body and the sacrifice was destroyed by Vīrabhadra; the fourth Skandha of the Bhagavata relates this at length. At SB 2.6.42 Brahmā names him among the lords of creatures in a list whose conclusion is that whatever in the world is glorious or majestic belongs to that supreme principle alone.
