Dhanvantari

Dhanvantari is the physician-deity who founded Ayurveda: the divine healer who emerged from the churning of the ocean bearing the nectar-jar, revered as an avatara of Vishnu and the first physician. SB 1.3.17: twelfth in the avatara enumeration — 'dhanvantaram dvadasamam'.
