Dharma Shastras

The Dharma-shastras are the smriti treatises codifying duties of varna and ashrama, sacraments, law and procedure, penance and statecraft — Manu and Yajnavalkya being their most famous exemplars. In the processed verses the sages list them among the texts Suta has studied (SB 1.1.6).
