Jarasandha

Jarasandha, the mighty emperor of Magadha and son of Brihadratha, was so named because, born in two halves, he was joined by the demoness Jara. As Kamsa's father-in-law he assaulted Mathura seventeen times, which led Krishna to move the Yadus to Dvaraka. He held many kings captive, intending to offer them to Pashupati. By Krishna's design Bhima slew him in single combat and the captive kings were freed, making the rajasuya possible — the allusion of SB 1.15.9.
