Also known as Brahma-kalpa (the day of Brahma)
The kalpa is the division of time that is one day of Brahma. At SB 3.11.22: 'tri-lokyA yuga-sAhasraM bahir AbrahmaNo dinam / tAvaty eva nishA tAta yan nimIlati vishvasR^ik' — a day of Brahma equals a thousand ages of the three worlds, and the night is of the same length, in which the creator closes his eyes. At SB 3.11.23 the world-cycle begins at the end of the night and runs through the fourteen Manus. At SB 3.11.29-30 the burning and the flood at the end of the age are described. Three kalpas are named: Brahma (SB 3.11.34), in which Brahma arose; Padma (35), in which from the navel-lake of Hari the world-lotus arose; and Varaha (36), in which Hari was the boar. Each is named once, so none is declared as a separate entity.
