Parashara
पराशर
Parashara, son of Shakti of the Vashishtha line, is the maharshi to whom the Vishnu Purana is ascribed: husband of Satyavati and father of Vyasa. SB 1.3.21: 'saptadase jatah satyavatyam parasarat' — Vyasa was born of him in Satyavati.

Student Sankhyayana SageParashara is the student of Sankhyayana. Source evidence (SB 3.8.8): At SB 3.8.8 Sankhyayana, chief of the paramahamsas, told the glories of the Lord to Parashara, Maitreya's own teacher, and to Brihaspati: 'jagAda so smad-gurave nvitAya parAsha-rAyAtha bR^ihaspatesh cha'.
