Parvati
पार्वती
Parvati (Girija, Uma, Gauri), daughter of Himavan and Mena, is Shiva's consort and mother of Ganesha and Kartikeya, held to be Sati reborn. She presides over the principle of shakti and is the supreme goddess of the Shakta tradition. By fierce austerity she won Shiva as husband — the theme of the Kumarasambhava. At SB 1.15.12 Arjuna recalls that when Shulapani fought him in the guise of a Kirata, the Lord, 'sagirija', with Parvati beside Him, was astonished and gave him His own weapon.
