Rama (Dasharathi, Ramachandra) is the Raghu-line king of Ayodhya, Vishnu's celebrated avatara: hero of the Ramayana, the ideal of righteous conduct, husband of Sita and Hanuman's beloved Lord. SB 1.3.22: 'nara-devatvam apannah... samudra-nigrahadini cakre viryani' — the god among men who did the devas' work, exploits beginning with the subjugation of the ocean (unnamed in the verse; the Dasharathi Rama is the unanimous identification).
