Shalya

Shalya, king of the Madra country, was Madri's brother and so maternal uncle to Nakula and Sahadeva. Setting out to join the Pandavas, he was tricked by Duryodhana's stratagem into fighting for the Kauravas; he served as Karna's charioteer and finally, as commander on the eighteenth day, fell at Yudhishthira's hands. He was accounted a master of horses and of charioteering. At SB 1.15.15-16 Arjuna counts him with Bhishma, Karna and Drona among the great warriors whose weapons could not touch him because of Krishna's influence.
