Shaunaka is a celebrated sage of the Vedic tradition, credited with the Rigveda's auxiliary treatises (Rk-pratishakhya etc.); the assembly-head who prompts the Bhagavata narration. SB 1.4.1: 'vṛddha kulapati bahv-ṛc śaunaka' — requesting the Bhagavata-katha from Suta.
