Dharma

धर्म

Also known as सौरभेयः · वृषः

Dharma is the master-concept of Indian thought: the ordering law and sense of rightness that sustains the person, society and cosmos — used of duty, righteousness and the ultimate good alike. In the processed verses: its highest form is causeless, unbroken devotion to Adhokshaja (SB 1.2.6); dharma that awakens no love for the Lord's narrations is mere labor (1.2.8); its goal is liberation, not wealth (1.2.9); it is meant for Vasudeva (1.2.29); and the perfection of varnashrama-dharma is the satisfaction of Hari (1.2.13). When Krishna departed, 'to whom dharma has gone for refuge' became the sages' great question (1.1.23).
