गरुड
Garuḍa is the son of Kaśyapa and Vinatā, enemy of serpents and mount of Lord Viṣṇu; he is called the king of birds and said to be made of the Vedas, and the story of his birth and of his seizing the nectar to free his mother from bondage is told at length in the Ādi-parvan of the Mahabharata. In Vaiṣṇava temples his image stands facing the sanctum. At SB 2.7.16 he is called the king of birds, and in the rescue of Gajendra the Lord comes mounted upon his shoulder — 'armed with the disc, mounted on the shoulder of the king of birds' — establishing his character as the mount on scriptural authority.

At SB 3.2.24 the demons saw the Lord in battle coming upon them carried on the shoulder of Tarkshya's son, GaruDa, bearing the Sunabha discus: 'tArakShya-putram aMse sunAbhAyudham Apantam'. The split is tArakShya-putram + aMse, not putra + maMse.
Hari came mounted on the shoulder of the king of birds to rescue Gajendra: 'cakrayudhah pataga-raja-bhujadhirudhah' (SB 2.7.16). Direction: mount -> mounted. Evidence: EXPLICIT.
