The Daitya-lord, slain by Narasimha's claws
'Daityendra-murjitam... karajaih' (SB 1.3.18).
हिरण्यकशिपु
Also known as दैत्येन्द्र · Daityendra (lord of the Daityas)
Hiranyakashipu is the mightiest daitya-emperor of puranic legend: son of Kashyapa and Diti, father of Prahlada, whose pride and boon-won invulnerability are undone in the Narasimha narrative. In SB 1.3.18 he is the 'daityendra' torn apart by Narasimha's claws (epithet explicit; name by unanimous tradition).
