Kala

काल

Kala is Time, named by the Bhagavata as the agent of the Yadus' destruction. At SB 3.4.29 Shuka says: 'brahma-shApa apadeshena kAlena amogha-vA~nChitaH / saMhR^itya sva-kulaM nUnaM tyakShyan deham achintayat' — making the brahmanas' curse only the occasion, by Time whose desire is never frustrated, the Lord destroyed His own clan. The division matters: the curse is not the cause but the occasion; the effective agent is Kala, whose wish is never frustrated. This is the same agency pointed to at SB 3.3.15, where the Lord said that the Yadus, their eyes reddened by pride, would quarrel among themselves and, engaged by Him, vanish of themselves.
