Karna

Karna (Radheya, Vasushena), Kunti's eldest son begotten by Surya, was set adrift at birth because she bore him unmarried, and was raised by the charioteer Adhiratha and Radha; hence, though the Pandavas' eldest brother, he was called a suta's son. Born with armour and earrings, taught arms by Parashurama, he became Duryodhana's dearest friend and king of Anga. His generosity is proverbial — he gave away even the armour and earrings to Indra. He commanded the army and fell at Arjuna's hands. At SB 1.15.15-16 Arjuna recalls his forces and weapons, acknowledging that only Krishna's influence preserved him.
