Maruts
मरुद्गण
The Maruts are the gods of wind and storm, sons of Rudra and companions of Indra, who in the Rigveda come thundering together bright with weapons and golden ornaments; their number is given as forty-nine, and their birth is connected with the story of Diti's womb being split by Indra. They preside over strength, vigour and speed. At SB 2.3.8 one who desires vigour is directed to worship the hosts of Maruts, in keeping with that character.
