नरकासुर
Narakasura (Bhauma), so called as the son of Bhumi the earth, was the tyrant asura king of Pragjyotishapura in the eastern region. He oppressed the gods, seized Aditi's earrings and Varuna's parasol, and imprisoned thousands of princesses. Krishna, going with Satyabhama, slew him and released sixteen thousand captive women — the reference of 'yash cahrita bhauma-vadhe sahasrashah' at SB 1.10.29. Naraka-chaturdashi commemorates this victory.

Narakasura, the son of Dharitri the earth, was devouring the sky with his body in battle; churned by the Sunabha wheel he was killed, and at his mother's prayer Krishna returned the kingdom to his son (SB 3.3.6).
