Pandu
पाण्डु
Pandu, son of Vichitravirya and Ambalika, younger brother of Dhritarashtra and king of Hastinapura, was husband of Kunti and Madri and father of the five Pandavas. Cursed by the sage Kindama while hunting, he could not beget children and lived as an ascetic in the forest; hence the Pandavas were born through portions of the gods. At SB 1.8.7 the brothers are named 'Pandu-putran'.

Pandu is an ancestor of Maharaja Parikshit. Source evidence (SB 1.12.12): Parikshit is the heir of Pandu's line: 'jajne vamsha-dharah pandoh bhuyah pandur ivaujasa' (SB 1.12.12), in vigour like Pandu come again. Direction: descendant -> ancestor. Evidence: EXPLICIT.
