Parashurama ('Rama with the axe'), son of Jamadagni and Renuka, is the Brahmin-warrior of the Bhrigu line and Vishnu's sixteenth avatara: who rid the earth of kshatriya tyranny twenty-one times; tradition holds him immortal, the martial guru of Kalki at the end of the age.
