The Prajapatis are the generation-lord patriarchs of creation: Brahma's mind-born sons (Marichi, Atri, Angira, Pulastya, Pulaha, Kratu, Vashishtha and others) from whom the lineages of beings descend. SB 1.3.27 declares them kalas of Hari; SB 1.2.27 notes that rajas-tamas natures worship them for progeny and power.
