Samba is the son of Krishna and Jambavati; SB 1.11.18 names him explicitly as 'sambo jambavati-sutah'. The abduction of Duryodhana's daughter Lakshmana is connected with him, after which Balarama went to Hastinapura and freed him. According to the Puranas he became the occasion of the sages' curse that destroyed the Yadu line; the narrative of his cure from leprosy by the worship of Surya is the subject of the Samba Purana.
