Sarga

सर्ग

Also known as Prakrita-sarga (the natural creation)

Sarga, creation, is given by the Bhagavata as tenfold. At SB 3.10.13 Maitreya says: 'yathedAnIM tathAgre cha pashchAd apy etad IdR^isham / sargo nava-vidhas tasya prAkR^ito vaikR^itas tu yaH' — as it is now so it was in the beginning and so it will be; the creation is ninefold, natural and transformed. Six are natural — from the mahat, from the aham, the elements, the senses, the vaikarika creation of the gods, and that of tamas (SB 3.10.14-17). Three are transformed — the chief creation of the immovable, sixfold; that of the animals, of twenty-eight kinds; and that of men, streaming downward (SB 3.10.18-25); with the creation of the gods added, the ten are complete (SB 3.10.26-28). At SB 3.10.14 dissolution is given as threefold, by time, substance and guna.
