Also known as दशशताननः

Śeṣa or Ananta is the serpent king of a thousand hoods upon whom Lord Viṣṇu reclines in the ocean of milk, and who bears all the worlds upon his hoods; at the close of a kalpa the fire from his mouths effects the dissolution, as mentioned also at SB 2.2.26. Balarāma is held to be his descent. His most affecting mention is at SB 2.7.41: 'Śeṣa, the primal god of a thousand mouths, singing His qualities, has not to this day come to His limit' — that even with a thousand mouths and from beginningless time he has not reached the end of the Lord's glories, which stands as the finest proof of their infinity.
