Shishupala

शिशुपाल

Shishupala (Caidya), king of Chedi, was the son of Damaghosha and Shrutashrava; as Shrutashrava was Vasudeva's sister, he was Krishna's cousin. He was the intended bridegroom at Rukmini's marriage, but Krishna crushed him and his allies and carried her off (SB 1.10.29). At Yudhishthira's rajasuya he reviled Krishna when the foremost honour was given to Him, and on the completion of a hundred offences was slain by the Sudarshana. Tradition counts him one of the three asura births of Jaya and Vijaya, who attained liberation even through enmity.
