Shurasena
शूरसेन
Shura (Shurasena), a Yadava king, son of Devamidha and lord of the Mathura region, was the father of Vasudeva and of Kunti (Pritha) — hence Krishna's grandfather and the Pandavas' maternal grandfather. He gave his daughter Pritha in adoption to his childless friend Kuntibhoja, whence her name Kunti. At SB 1.14.26 Yudhishthira asks after him as 'matamaha', maternal grandfather — the very words that establish the sibling relation of Kunti and Vasudeva, and so Krishna's standing as the Pandavas' cousin (SB 1.9.20).
