उग्रसेन

Ugrasena, the Yadava king of Mathura, was the father of Kamsa. His son deposed and imprisoned him; after Kamsa was slain, Krishna did not take the throne Himself but restored it to Ugrasena — a celebrated instance of His freedom from self-interest. At Dvaraka too he presided over the Yadava assembly. At SB 1.11.17 he comes forward with Vasudeva and Akrura to welcome Krishna.

The Lord, standing Himself, addressed Ugrasena seated on the seat of the Supreme with 'Wait': 'tiShThan niShaNNaM parameShThi-dhiShNye nyabodhayad deva nidhAraya iti' (SB 3.2.22).
