वैश्य
The vaishyas are the varna arisen from the thighs of the Person. At SB 3.6.32: 'visho avartanta tasyorvoH loka-vR^itti-karIr vibhoH / vaishyas tad-udbhavo vArtAM nR^iNAM yaH samavartayat' — from the thighs turned forth what serves the working of the world, and the vaishya arises from it, regulating the trade of men aright. 'vArtA' here denotes the practical ways of livelihood.
