वेद

Also known as श्रुति · निगमकल्पतरु · वेदतरुः · त्रयी · Shruti · Nigama-kalpa-taru (the wish-yielding tree of the Vedas) · Veda-taru (the tree of the Vedas) · Trayi (the threefold Veda)

The Vedas are Hinduism's oldest scripture: the four collections (Rig, Yajus, Sama, Atharva) with their Brahmana-Aranyaka-Upanishad literature, whose compilation tradition links to Vyasa. SB 1.3.21: Vyasa divided the one Veda into four; SB 1.4.20 names the four; the Itihasa-Purana is declared the fifth Veda; the Bhagavata is the Veda-tree's ripened fruit (1.1.3).
