Having the Lord as its resort, paired with austerity
At SB 3.9.30 the Lord tells Brahma: 'bhUyas tvaM tapa AatiShTha vidyAM chaiva mad-AshrayAm / tAbhyAm antar-hR^idi brahman lokAn drakShyasy apAvR^itAn' — take your stand again in austerity and in knowledge that has Me as its resort; by those two, within the heart, you will see the worlds unveiled. At SB 3.9.26 Maitreya describes Brahma's praise as made by austerity, knowledge and absorption.
