By reason of their division the gods became unequal to their own functions and spoke to the Lord with folded hands (SB 3.5.37); they confessed that, each bound to his own pastime, they cannot answer His purpose: 'sarve viyuktAH sva-vihAra-tantraM na shaknumas tat-pratihartave te' (SB 3.5.47), and asked Him to grant them by His power the sight that is His own (SB 3.5.50).

The devas, with the asuras, churned the ocean using Mandara: 'surasuranam udadhim mathnatam mandaracalam' (SB 1.3.16). Evidence: EXPLICIT.
